Bisk family tackle San Francisco!

It was a BUSY two days, but we did it and the kids were troopers!!! Brian found a way to get us over to Alcatraz. We rode the double decker bus. Walked through China town. Visited the Chinese markets: specialties - Large Toads, Eels and Poisonous fish skinned. Rode the Trolley Cars (heard their ding - love you Twi!). Bryce LOVED the trolley cars. Visited the Chocolate Factory, the Bush Man (there are more than one now!), ate sourdough bread, walked across Golden Gate Bridge----We were BUSY!!! I am exhausted remembering it. But it sure was fun to see Carter, Jake and Brandon!! Once again, my boys sure do LOVE their cousins. I was glad that Brian and Twila were able to see cute little Benicia and what our life is like in the Bay Area. Thanks for the visit guys!

Favorite Recipe

Toffee

2 1/2 c. caster sugar
1/4 c. white corn syrup
1/2 c. water
1 lb butter
3 large milk chocolate bars (I use choc bars from trader joes)
2 lb pecan halves (trader joes or costco is cheapest)
1/2 lb finely chopped nuts to sprinkle over chocolate

Combine first 4 ingredients in heavy kettle and cook slowly to hard crack stirring occasionally. Melt 1/2 of choc in double boiler. (I do it in the microwave 30 sec at a time). Prepare 2 cookie sheets by laying the pecan halves all over, but not touching. Pour candy quickly over nuts and pour the melted half of the choc over hot candy. Springke with half of the finely chopped nuts and press in lightly with fingers. Let sit over night or until harden. Turn over and repeat with choc and chopped nuts.
